GENERIC STUDENT DAY SCHEDUILE

(Usually in Classroom D 3.5 W)

8:00 - 9:30 am: Student Core Seminar - All students will attend these. They are designed
to be interactive and are chosen a list of core topics

9:30 - 10:15 am: Intake Rounds -All Attend: are focussed on patients that students worked up in the inpatient and ambulatory settings that week The purpose of the rounds is to discuss interesting patients in-depth in a problem-solving approach, i.e., the student presenting the case will begin with a chief complaint and his/her peers will develop the history/physical exam, assessment, and plan, with the presenting student acting as a resource for information. This implies that students will have to know patient information on all their patients for this session. Students will not be formally graded on their performance but preceptors will be asked to forward information to my office on students who excel or are having difficulty. The student representative will be responsible for ensuring that there is a case to be presented each week, which reflects the core curriculum and is not repetitious.

10:30 - 10:30-11:30 am: Preceptor Walk Rounds - Students on outpatient rotations will attend. These sessions emphasize students performing physical diagnosis and interviewing skills. During the first session you will learn about the pediatric oral health exam.
