Adoption Study
-in progress
Increasing numbers of children are being raised by same-sex couples
in the United States, and the social and cultural implications of same-
sex couple adoption have recently become important issues.  With
many states enacting legislation that affects same-sex couples’ access
to adoption, there is an increasing need for scientific evidence
regarding the capability of these parents.

Previous studies have often focused on children from previous
heterosexual relationships, therefore introducing confounds of divorce
and genetic relatedness and their effect on children. By studying
children from the same study population who have been raised from
birth by either same-sex or opposite-sex parents, this study will
address these criticisms.
