Presidential Merit Fellowship. A number of positions are available for outstanding students having BS or MS degree.
The George Washington University Presidential Merit Fellowship (PMF) is a program to attract outstanding students to work with select research faculty. The ultimate aim is to produce competitive graduates who intend to obtain tenure-track positions at leading universities or prestigious research positions worldwide. The program includes a $24,000/academic year stipend for 2 years (renewable) plus full tuition. An additional $6000 will be provided for summer support, increasing the total stipend support to $30,000/year. For outstanding applicants, the application fee will be waived.
The PMF candidates must have the following credentials:
1. Grade point average (GPA) of 3.5/4.0 or above.
2. Graduate Record Exam (GRE) score of 85 percentile or higher. For PMF positions, the Chemistry GRE is recommended.
3. TOEFL score of 600 (250 computer-based) or above for international students. Important: For the PMF position, initial materials must be submitted to Prof. Akbar Montaser. Upon Prof. Montaser's approval, the Application Forms must also be completed electronically by visiting this website.
Please submit only original copies of documents plus three recommendation letters. The faculty may directly submit recommendation letters via email, assuming full address, telephone/fax numbers, and ranks are given.
GTA and GRA Positions. In addition to the PMF position, Department of Chemistry offers several teaching and research assistantships.
