Postdoc
position (current ad):
A postdoctoral position is
available in the Attention and Cognition Lab
of Dr. Sarah Shomstein at the George
Washington University: http://home.gwu.edu/~shom/ACL/. Research topics include
neural mechanisms of attentional orienting,
spatial and object-based selection, and
semantic influences on attentional
orienting. We use a variety of methods,
including psychophysics, gaze-contingent
eye-tracking, and advanced fMRI methods. We
also have access to TMS.
We are seeking a highly
qualified, motivated, individual with a
recent Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g.,
Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer
Science), strong quantitative and technical
skills, and shared interests in the core
research area. Experience with fMRI,
TMS, eye-tracking, is highly
desirable. Proficiency in programming
is necessary (e.g. Matlab or Python).
GWU is home to a vibrant
research community that spans cognitive
neuroscience, applied visual cognition, and
neuroscience and includes the
GW Institute for Neuroscience and the GW
Mind-Brain Institute. GWU
is located in the heart of Washington, DC.
The position is fully
funded. The initial period is 1 year with
additional years depending on fit and
progress. Start date is flexible.
