Invariants of 4-moves
by

We give an overview of the Nakanishi 4-move conjecture (1979) and
related 4-move question of Kawauchi (e.g. is any link of
2 components reduced by 4-moves to the trivial link of two components or a
Hopf link?) We present a possible counterexample: the parallel 2-cable of the trefoil
knot (the only possible counterexample of 12 crossings).
