The look of the 1960's that idealized women's concerns was either a return to
short hair much like that of the 20s or long and straight hair. A standard look was exemplified on the model
known as Twiggy. Dark eyes and pale lips followed most of the decade but towards the end,
of the decade the no makeup look became quite popular. With the desire to be different
and partly the desire for to lure younger women into wearing makeup, the 50s saw a reinstatement of the 1940s' creams, browns, beiges, whites,
and greys. The Cleopatra look vanished and in its place came an innocent creature of childhood. Psychedelics adopted a fantasy
eye make-up look with heavy white and black lines. The hippy movements advocate natural wild looks
with a complete rejection of cosmetics.
