Shivraj Kanungo’s research areas include
a) Evaluating and assessing information technology (IT) effectiveness in organizations
b) Information and communication technologies (ICT) for development
c) Decision support systems, Systems analysis and development, software engineering and process improvement
d) Studying the relationship between organizational culture, information system use and management, and value realized from information systems
Shivraj Kanungo is a successful consultant and has published extensively in research journals like System Dynamics Review, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Strategic Information Systems, International Journal of Information Management, International Journal of Information Systems, Software Process: Improvement and Practice, Information Technology and People, Computers in Human Behavior, Systems Research and Behavioral Science, International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems and International Journal of Knowledge Management.
He offers executive and practitioner-oriented workshops on software cost modeling and estimation, software process improvement, the use of six-sigma approaches in process improvement, and qualitative and management decision-making. Shivraj Kanungo received the Master of Management Studies degree (1986) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, the M.S. degree (1988) in Management Information Systems from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and the Ph.D. degree (1993) in Information and Decision Systems from The George Washington University, Washington DC. His books include Making Information Technology Work (Sage Publications), Computer and Network Technologies and Applications, (coauthored with with B. N. Jain from IIT-Delhi and published by Tata-McGrawHill,) and Information Technology at Work: A Collection of Managerial Experiences (published by Hindustan Publishing Corporation). His latest book, CMMI Implementation: Embarking on High Maturity Practices (coauthored with A. Goyal from IBM and published by Tata-McGraw Hill) was released in 2004.
