Dear Matt:

I have succeeded in stripping all my other commitments near the dates of the China trip, so that I am "Go" for the May 31 through June 15, 2003.

I will be leaving for Malawi on April 22, on return from the 107th running of the Boston marathon on April 21, so that I will not be available for the April 25 gatheirng, though I would very much like to be.  Is that date fixed?

I will let you know more, but i am cleared for takeoff on the China commitment!

Cheers!

Hello Dr. Geelhoed and Happy New Year!

An update on the 3rd NYLF China Mission on Medicine...  As of Friday, it

looks like it is a go ‑‑ so needless to say, I am rather pleased!  So ‑‑ I

hope the dates of May 31 ‑ June 15, 2003 still work for you.  (Note: on May

31, the group departs Los Angeles for Beijing at 1:30 pm PST, so May 30 may

be a better option to arrive in Los Angeles.)

A final, 100% in stone decision is going to be made on Jan 7/8, but in

talking to everyone (and at the almost full enrollments of the first 2

Missions to China), #3 should be opened very shortly.  I will email you at

that time as well.

In addition, on Friday, April 25 we will be having a day‑long training

session (and meet/greet of the other faculty advisors) at our office at 1110

Vermont Avenue.  I hope you can make it.

Thank you again for remaining so flexible ‑‑ and I will speak with you in

the new year!

Best,

Matt Castrina

NYLF

Thanks, Matt!

I have two competitors for that time slot, and I have told each to hold

off until after the first of the year when I would know about your

status, and will keep this time around the dates you have given for

China/Australia or whatever works.

Cheers!

Greetings Dr. Geelhoed!

Just an update to say ‑ no new decisions yet for the China Medical

Mission

#3 (June) ‑ but the applications are beginning to roll in!  Gina and I

know

to keep you in mind for other Missions if the 3rd China Medicine (May

30/31‑June 15) does not pan out.  In taking a look ‑ the Australia

Medicine

Mission (#4) ‑‑ June 6 ‑ June 17 has the closest dates to the China

mission.

As I hear more I'll still keep you updated on any new developments ‑‑

especially as we get closer to December/January when our marketing

staff can

make some better decisions on the feasibility of the Chine Medicine

Mission

#3.

Thank you for being so patient!

Best,

Matt Castrina

Thanks, Matt!

While I was on the phone to Gina, I blocked the June dates to avoid

any

encroachment from a rapidly filling 2003. (02‑Sep‑A‑2)   So, I will

continue to hold those dates and the itinerary you had furnished

despite

the change in the constitution of the group form pure medical students

to mixed medical and pre‑medical.

I remain interested in the other tours, such as the ones to Australia

and South Africa, in each of which I have spent some considerable

amounts of time, also, but I should be able to cement the schedule by

your January 15 dates.  On that occasion I will be abroad in Mindanao

Philippines, but will try to monitor from whatever distant sites I can

get into my email to find out what the NYLF decisions have been.

I will be near by at most times until the 2003 itineraries begin to

emerge at Dec. 30 (see Nov‑A‑2 attached), so let me know any further

updates you may have on the China mission.

Thanks!
