Subject:     Thank you ever so much!

Dear Bob and Mary:

Virginia and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Chesapeake Chapter of the SCI‑‑in fact,  my  first‑ever SCI gathering of any kind, despite frequent attempts to try to get to the annual convenition!  As you can see from the schedule just completed, I am most often somewhere else in the world when the activities in las Vegas or Reno are going on, but I would be delighted to have a guided tour of the annual convention at some point in the future!

I am planning the next excursion to Malawi, (see attached) and had hoped to book an extension through Zambia this next trip, but that will be the following year before I can honor that invitation.  When I do, I want to build in a hunting trip, and have used this as a way of enticing the participatoin of my hunting partner Craig Schaefer whom you met.  If nothing else, it serves as a deductible travel expense since the principle reason for the trip will be the volunteer medical mission.

On that subject, I wanted to again invite you, especially since Mary was thinking it might be the right time to get back into a bit of volunteer nursing.  I have a whole series of these trips (see 02‑Sep‑A‑2) coming up this year, and three will be to the Himalayas‑‑an ideal easing in of the old clinical skills!

The Philippine trip is completed and the Malawi trip is booked; now I have to think about the next hunting trip as my own reward for the othert efforts, and it would be a pleasure particularly to re‑introduce Mary back into the action in a clinical setting!  Since you already have the Zambian contacts, what would you think about making plans for next year about this time?

I look forward to the opportunity to see your collection.  However "rough" may be the organization of it, you can be sure that nothing is rougher than my "cave" which is just about to start its major renovation!

I have a speaking engagement that would have me out of the area on March 1, but I am trying now to break its date to see if I might join you in March 1's chapter meeting in Annapolis.  I will let you know about the progress in trying to move this commitment.

Thank you again for hosting me and introducing me to a fine group close to my main "strike zone" of interest!  As you may have seen, the Home Page (http://home.gwu.edu/~gwg)  simply identifies me as "A Hunter/Gatherer."

Virginia is identified as a "Hunter" but of a far different kind, that involves bright red coats, stirrup cups, and hounds, with the difference being that I shoot  the fox!  Maybe we are both leaning toward an appreciation of the other's sport.

Thanks again!
