For the Speech Plus Learning Package, please read the following:

Contents of the Package:

1. Kingsoft Powerword 2005 (by Kingsoft Co.China): This is like an e-dictionary and gives you instant translation of single items. E.g. when you point at Chinese character in your document you will see the English translation immediately. You can also choose to hear the sound of the item by clicking on the speaker icon above the English translation. You can turn the dictionary on and off by pressing Ctrl-Alt+F1.
2. Speech Plus (by Bider Co., Singarpore): This allows you to listen to the text --single item or phrases or paragraph --with pretty fluent speech. You can type a word or sentence in Chinese characters (or copy/paste text from a website), then select the word (phrase or paragraph) and click on the play button on the Speech Plus control bar, you will hear the word (phrase or paragraph) at a normal speed. It usually takes a second to hear the word, a little longer for sentence or paragraph. With the text selected, you will be able to replay the word/phrase/paragraph by pressing the play button again and again.
3. Chinese Plus (by Bider Co., Singarpore): This has several features you will find helpful.

• Animation of character stroke order: Under Tools or click on the icon for tools from the Chinese Plus control bar, choose Stroke star. Then select characters from the list on the left, you will see how to draw a character. You can also choose to hear the names of the strokes as well as increase the speed of animation.
• Pinyin conversion: You can add pinyin to the select text. From the Tool Bar of your Word document (not from Chinese Plus control bar), you will see an added memu called "Chinese Plus". You can then choose "Pinyin conversion" from this menu.

Installation instructions:

1. Please becareful not to lose the white slip inside the Kingsoft Powerword pocket. It contains the serial number for your installation.
2. When installing the Powerword, you will see a list of checked boxes. It is important that you uncheck all boxes except the one for "making shortcut to desktop". (When finish this shortcut may not display its name in Chinese characters correctly. Change its name to Powerword then.)
3. During the Chinese Plus installation, the program may ask you for your Windows installation CD. This is for retrieving files for MS IME. You can skip this if you have already set up your computer for MS IME.
4. Speech Plus and Chinese Plus require online registration. We recommend that you register online immediately after the installation of both software is complete. This time you need to enter the Speech Plus Installation Key shown inside of your software jacket (not the serial number for Powerword installation). If you encounter any problem during installation or registration, please contact Bider company by email. The registration website address is available on the back of the software jacket.
