Yaron Peleg grew up on Kibbutz Usha in the north of Israel. After serving in the Israeli army, Mr. Peleg completed his B.S. in film and television studies at Emerson College, Boston, and worked in the film and television industry in the US and in Israel. Dr. Peleg studied for his Ph.D. in Hebrew literature at Brandeis University and at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Dr. Peleg taught Hebrew language, literature and culture courses at Brandeis University and a course on Israeli film at Princeton University. At the George Washington University, Professor Peleg is the director of the Hebrew Program and teaches courses in Hebrew literature and contemporary Israeli culture.

Professor Peleg is the author of three books. His most recent study looks at Hebrew literature and Israeli culture in the 1990s between the two intifadas. He has also written about orientalism in early twentieth century Hebrew culture, and about homoeroticism in Modern Hebrew literature. Professor Pelg is also co-author of a Hebrew textbook, Brandeis Modern Hebrew.
