September 2010: Collaboration between Dr. Kai Ge’s Nuclear Receptor Biology group at NIDDK, NIH and Dr. Weiqun Peng's computational biology group at The George Washington University seeks applications for a bioinformatics post-doctoral position. The successful candidate will work on 1) analysis of high throughput sequencing data generated by a variety of techniques including ChIP-Seq and RNA-Seq; 2) development of bioinformatics tools for integrative analysis of epigenomic and functional genomic data; and 3) study of genetic and epigenetic regulation of cell differentiation from computational biology and systems biology perspectives. The candidate will work closely with a group of biologists interested in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression and cell differentiation. The salary will be commensurate with the individual's experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD degree in a quantitative field.
- Strong programming skills in Python/Perl, C/C++; Expertise with Linux/Unix environments
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and strong capability to interact with bench scientists
PREFERENCES:
- Background of molecular biology is a plus.
DURATION:
This position is available for 2 years with the possibility of extension.
