Welcome!

I am an Assistant Professor of Quantitative Research Methods in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) at The George Washington University lcoated in Washington DC. I hold a Ph.D. in Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation, from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an M.A. in Assessment, Measurement, and Statistics and a B.S. in Psychology from James Madison University. I conduct both methodological and applied research studies and teach graduate-level courses in quantitative research methodology. My research interests involve methodological issues in latent variable modeling with a specific focus on structural equation modeling, mixture modeling, data-model fit, and scale development. I am particularly interested in investigating methods to test for interaction effects and non-linear relations between latent variables.

I have developed this website to include information about my work as it relates to academia. Resources for students working on their research are available throughout the website. Please note that I will periodically post announcements for students. These announcements are located on the home page.

GRANT: Dr. Brandi Weiss Awarded GW Online Learning Initiative Grant
Dr. Brandi A. Weiss received a grant from GW’s Online Learning Initiative (OLI) to create an online version of EDUC 8120, Group Comparisons and Designs. This course is a required A-level doctoral-level course in research methods that is currently offered every semester in a face-to-face format. The online format will be designed to benefit doctoral students that reside far from GW’s campuses or have commitments that prevent them from attending class meetings during the week. As a part of the process, instructors awarded the OLI grant will be trained in online teaching and pedagogy practices through a series of eight workshops led by the Teaching and Learning Collaborative. An instructional designer will also work 1:1 with instructors to develop their course platform.
