Computational Materials Science Group

PhD position

A Ph.D. position in the area of computational materials science is now available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at George Washington University. The position will start in Fall 2016.

The computational materials research group at GWU works on materials theory at the atomistic level. The current research interests include modeling nucleation and growth of ice and gas hydrates, opto-electronic properties of two-dimensional materials.  Primary computational methods include quantum simulation based on Density Functional Theory and molecular dynamics combined with advanced sampling method. For further information, please visit http://home.gwu.edu/~tsli/CMS.html

The qualified applicants should have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering and science fields. A good GPA is essential for admission. The candidates with keen interest in theory and computation are encouraged to apply. Experience in molecular simulation and Unix/Linux environment is preferred.  Interested candidate please send your CV, transcript, GRE, TOEFL (if applicable) scores, and list of three references to Dr. Tianshu Li (tsli@gwu.edu).
