WELCOME!

My name is Thomaz Alvares de Azevedo e Almeida and this is my website.

Recently I was selected by the Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA) as a Client Assessment Fellow and I will be abroad, in Mozambique and Brazil, until mid-August. I hold a Master's degree in International Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University at Washington DC. I am also a research fellow at the Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA).

My concentration is international development, especially in the Latin America region. My main interests are:

  • Microfinance and the impact assessment of its outcomes;
  • International economics, especially the effects of trade policy on natioanl welfare;
  • Education, especially conditional cash transfers schemes;
  • Political system; especially regarding the use of instant run-off voting and e-voting.
