Assist students and alumni in determining career goals and
objectives through self-evaluation. Advise and counsel students and
alumni both
individually and in small group sessions on matters related to career
development and the legal job-seeking process. Conduct skills
development
workshops on all components of the job-search process, including resume
writing, drafting cover letters, the post-graduate fellowship
application
process, networking and interviewing skills. Plan and implement seminar
programs and panel discussions on a variety of legal and alternative
career
topics both independently and in conjunction with alumni and student
groups. Conduct
outreach to area non-profit and government legal employers Administer
school’s
pro bono volunteer program, summer grant application process, and
administration of school’s loan repayment assistance program for
graduates

Developed strategy and drafted
political literature for state legislative campaign. Planned and
executed fundraising events and managed field operations. Drafted

Hearing
Officer (September 2003 – July 2005)
Served as disciplinary hearing
officer for juvenile detention facility residents accused of violations
such as violent or sexual assault of staff or other residents,
possession of contraband, rioting, destruction of government property
and disobeying instructions. Acted as Chairperson of agency
hearing panel determining whether to revoke the community release
status of juvenile offenders alleged to have violated the terms of
their conditional release agreements. Evaluated the Department’s
programs in order to develop policies and procedures for operation of
juvenile detention facility and Department of Court and Community
Programs.
Acting
Chief of Staff (October 2004 – January 2005)
Served as advisor to agency’s
Interim Administrator, recommended solutions on policy matters and
critical issues, implemented decisions and carried out the Interim
Administrator’s priorities. Supervised Deputy Administrators and
staff in coordination of agency efforts to achieve compliance with
Jerry M. consent decree. Supervised personnel and formulated
policies and procedures regarding disciplinary hearings for Oak Hill
Youth Center residents.
Executive
Assistant to the Administrator (June – August 2003)
Assisted the agency’s
Administrator in review and analysis of the Administration’s policies
and procedures. Prepared briefings on agency operations for
District of Columbia and federal officials. Served on interdepartmental
and interagency committees addressing improvements to therapeutic
services provided to youth in the Administration’s custody.
Completed special projects, as assigned, for the Administrator.
MASSACHUSETTS OFFICE OF EARLY CHILD
EDUCATION, BOSTON, MA

Enforced the agency’s licensing
policies and regulations governing family, group, and residential child
care in Massachusetts. Prepared administrative decisions and
legal opinions related to the laws within the jurisdiction of the
agency. Mediated disputes between agency contractors and
represented the agency in administrative and arbitration
hearings. Drafted and reviewed contracts, policies, regulations
and interagency memoranda. Chaired committee addressing fraud by
recipients of child care subsidies.
