Teaching & Administration:

  1. I am on sabbatical during Spring 2013.

  2. Summer 2013:

  3. Math 1252DE. Calculus for social & management science:  Distance Learning, CRN 70345, 70993.

  4. Fall 2013 courses:

  5. Math 4981. Seminar: An introduction to cryptography and codes,  CRN 56668.

  6. Math 6214. Measure and Integration Theory (Graduate course),
    CRN 56669.

Research:

  1. My research is on ergodic theory and dynamical systems, especially the application of these subjects to tilings, quasicrystals, and numeration. See my papers and old lectures lectures for more details.

  2. I am also interested in applications of mathematics to politics. Click on the image of my book (left) coauthored with Dan Ullman, for more information.

Current Ph.D. Students:

  1. Joe Herning

  2. Erblin Mehmetaj

This animation shows the tiling substitution producing the “chair” tiling. It is an example of a constant “size” substitution with a “coincidence”. As a result this tiling has discrete diffraction spectrum. See the paper
