How to get there:

Sarasota is easily accessible by air. Most of the major airlines fly into the Sarasota – Bradenton airport (SRQ). Tampa has a larger airport (TPA) which is served by major airlines and budget carriers, and is a pleasant one hour drive to Sarasota. Rental cars are available at both airports. A taxi from Sarasota airport to Siesta Key should cost about $20. There are several shuttle services at the Tampa airport, although these are expensive ($70 or more to Sarasota).

Directions to Siesta Key from Sarasota Airport (about 20 minutes): Take US-41 (AKA Tamiami Trail) south for about 6 miles. You will pass by the harbor and downtown. Make a right onto Siesta Drive. After a mile and a half, turn left onto Higel Avenue. Continue on Ocean Boulevard to the village, or turn left on Midnight Pass Road to reach the Palm Bay Club.

Directions to Siesta Key from Tampa Airport (about an hour): Follow signs for I-275 South. Go 38 miles (you will cross over Tampa Bay on the Sunshine Skyway bridge), then take I-75 South for 23 miles. Get off at exit 205 (Clark Road) and drive west 6 miles. After you cross the bridge onto Siesta Key, turn right onto Midnight Pass Road.

Renting a car is recommended (especially if you would like to do some of the activities in the area), but not an absolute necessity -- there will be shuttles to the rehearsal dinner and to the wedding.
