Surface Spectroscopy

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Auger electron spectroscopy often contain many-body or correlation effects.  These effects, when understood, allow information concerning charge transfer, core hole screening, shake-up, and shake-off to be obtained from the experiemtal data.  Our work has concentrated on quantitative interpretation of the spectral lineshapes, particularly of the Auger lineshape in covalently bonded systems.
