Teaching | Research | Service | Standards | Vitae| Personal | About this Portfolio
Thanks for reviewing my digital teaching portfolio. This section provides information about: what audiences and purposes I had in mind when I created it, what framework I used to guide me in developing it, and why I created it (rationale) in the first place. It also includes information about the contents (authorship and permissions), as well as the site map (pictorial and text-based).

Focus

The target audiences for my portfolio are:

  • my students
  • my supervisors (i.e., department chairperson, dean, president of the university)
  • my colleages
  • my family - maybe they'll have a better understanding about what I do and why I spend hours and hours doing it!

The purpose of my portfolio is to:

  1. demonstrate my competence as a teacher educator based on the Association of Teacher Educators' standards (see http://www.siu.edu/departments/coe/ate/standards/TEstandards.htm)
  2. document my experience and professional growth
  3. serve as a tool for reflection and goal-making
  4. serve as a model (I hope) for other faculty in the GSEHD to follow for developing and sharing annual reviews
  5. practice what I preach!!

Framework

I am using the Association of Teacher Educators' standards (see www.siu.edu/departments/coe/ate/standards/TEstandards.htm), to demonstrate my competence as a teacher educator.
