Math 223: Numerical Solution of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations

Course Description:
This course provides an exposure to numerical techniques used in solving ordinary and partial differential equations of mathematical physics and engineering.

Topics include:

Ordinary Differential Equations:

    Textbook: Burden and Faires,  Numerical Analysis, 7th Edition, Brooks/ Cole Publishers  (2001).

Partial Differential Equations-- Hyperbolic, Parabolic and Elliptic Equations:

    Textbook: To be announced

Prerequisites: Knowledge of differential equations and computer programming (any computer language, including spreadsheets). Knowledge of numerical analysis is helpful.
