As a senior in high school, Laney and fellow editors-in-chief were invited to speak at The Columbia Scholastic Press Association's Spring Convention with Herff Jones Representative Jim Mielty. Being invited to speak at CSPA is considered to be prestigious. Very few high school students get to speak at CSPA conventions. Laney and fellow editors spoke about the ad, also known as tributes or accolades, section of the yearbook. Looking at old yearbooks there is that terribly ugly ads section in the end where nothing matches. They spoke about streamlining the process to make an ads section that is not only attractive but also cohesive with the rest of the yearbook. Their presentation was called "Breaking Your Ad Tradition." The description of the presentation was "Learn how to reinvent your ad section and streamline your marketing campaign, payment process, and method of accepting all materials. No more missing checks, random ad formats or parent-designed ads. Get an increase of ads by 20%. Samples, links and ad designs will be shared." Laney also had a bio in the CSPA booklet, it said "Laney Fazio ce eighth grade and is now an editor-in-chief of the Arch Yearbook at Byram Hills High School in Armonk, NY. Laney plans to get a masters degree in Mathematics and Education. As a high school math teacher, Laney also hopes to be a yearbook adviser."
