Keira Ballantyne


Keira Ballantyne's degree in linguistics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa has allowed her to focus her recent work in the areas of professional development for teachers of K-12 EL students and language acquisition and early childhood education for EL children; she also has a technology background and oversees all work on the NCELA website. Her experience in adult education includes teaching adult ESL students and curriculum development in both linguistics and adult ESL. While at NCELA she has worked on several projects that have resulted in publications, including serving as the founding editor of NCELA's AccELLerate! quarterly review (then conceived of as a "newsletter"); a monograph on professional development that focuses on Title III National Professional Development Program grantees, Educating English Language Learners: Building Teacher Capacity; Dual Language Learners in the Early Years; and a number of webinars.
