Syllabus

Chapter 13. Vectors and Geometry of Space

All sections. Vectors; the dot product, and the cross product. Equations of lines and planes. Cylinders and quadric surfaces. Cylindrical and spherical coordinates.

Chapter 14. Vector Functions

           Sections 13. Space curves. Derivatives and integrals of vector functions.  Arc length.

Chapter 15. Partial Derivatives

Sections 17. Functions of several variables; limits, and continuity. Partial derivatives, and directional derivatives. Tangent planes. Chain rule. Maximum and minimum values.

Chapter 16. Multiple Integrals

Sections 1––8. Double and triple integrals, and their applications. Double integrals in polar coordinates. Triple integrals in cylindrical and spherical coordinates.

 

Chapter 17. Vector Calculus

All sections. Line integrals, and Green’s theorem. Curl and divergence. Parametric surfaces and their areas. Surface integrals, and Stokes’ theorem.
