One of my first and continuing efforts has been in the Spanish-speaking areas of the Caribbean. I had begun with the Dominican Republic and continue interests from Puerto Rico to other parts of the basin, now including Francophone and English areas as well. The British Virgin Islands have been regular visits, and a post-Hugo assessment and rehabilitation of the island of Montserrat was interesting. Without having recovered from Hugo, Montserrat has been further devastated by volcanic eruption that may have destroyed the island as habitable. But the increasing interest may be directed toward Haiti and the efforts in Hopital Schweitzer.
