RESPONSE TO JOHN HOWE’S VISIT,
AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF MY FORTHCOMING
CAUCASIAN MOUNTAIN TRIP
Thank you so very much for your visit!
It was a delight to introduce you to our CEO and
University Provost Skip Williams and Huda Ayas in our International Medical Programs office. Thanks for the review of Project HOPE's recent programs.
I had promised a repeat tour of the facility's full
range of education potentials in our sixth floor of the hospital and also an
introduction to our associate dean of allied health programs Jean Johnson. I know that you had suggested that such a
tour might be more useful if your HOPE Vice President joined us. I am at your disposal for the time you had
suggested, since within this two week period (when I had been scheduled to be
in the Central Plateau of Haiti with a large group of medical students in tow),
but since that plug was pulled by US State's travel advisory, I had what I
thought might be a leisurely two weeks before departure for Eritrea, for which I
had already packed the surgical kits and had the pre-mission meeting with the
personnel recruited for Asmara.
Now it appears that the second week is claimed, as
"nature abhors a vacuum!" I
have had an abrupt opportunity to go to the Trans-Caspian Ural Mountains and
will be departing for
So, if we might push the timing of your next visit
earlier to the week when I will be available, I would like to try to make those
arrangements, or we can set it up for later in August after the 2oth of the
month.
Thanks again for your visit!
