James Foster is Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University. His publications span the fields of economic development, public economics, and economic theory. Current research topics include the measurement of multidimensional poverty, robustness of multidimensional comparisons, poverty and time, the ultra poor, mobility and the middle class, and the role of aspirations in economic development.
