Excused Absence for Lab
As stated in our first “safety” lab,
excused absences can only be obtained for the three following
reasons.
1. Family Emergency or illness
2. Religious Holiday recognized by GWU (* deadline to notify)
3. Academics related extracurricular activity (* such as an important
seminar or reception)
* The deadline to notify me of excused absence for
reasons number 2 and 3 was February 10, 2005. If you have not
received my permission about any items on number 2 or 3, please
e-mail me as soon as possible.
Any excused absence falling under reason #3 will
be considered on a case-by-case basis. I want to be as understanding
as possible about items under #3. So, if some exciting academics
related extracurricular activity is coming up during the semester
e-mail me now. If such an opportunity arises later in the semester,
you can still let me know to discuss an excused absence. However,
e-mail me at least 72 hours before your lab to allow me to discuss
the material more with you and make other necessary adjustments
Please note that if I grant you an excused absence,
you still have to make up the lab later in the semester. Also,
I can generally grant you only one excused absence per semester.
