Group 1 developed the Sudley Elementary School Library Online database system that allows library users to effectively manage and utilize the library’s book circulation and inventory, and is a true education tool promoting student usability thereby resulting in elevated reading and research skillsDesigned on the three-tier network architecture, data is distributed and processed on the client, web server and database server.  Highlights of this system are that students can now search for books within their reading level; Teachers are able to create and maintain class reading lists; and Librarians are now able to accurately manage inventory and book circulation.  In addition, this system will provide the Librarian staff an overall net savings of approximately 21 weeks.

Group 2  developed the Stock Portfolio System (SPS).  The SPS is an internally used system that maintains stocks on the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ, and AMEX markets and performs a minimum of 200 transactions per day per broker.  The SPS is designed for use by ABC investments to maintain stock portfolios for their customers.  Each broker needs to track stock transactions, dividends, and short & long term capital gains and losses.  The SPS will allow management to generate reports in order to perform individual broker and company wide trend analysis.

Group 3  developed III Net (International Investment Information) an investment advisory service for corporate investors to identify and capitalize their business opportunities.  This is accomplished by matching investor interests with individuals or organizations seeking investments.  Our goal was to develop an online service permitting those who are seeking investments as well as organizations promoting investment to interact.  Our system enables users to customize their interface by specifying their interest, region, country, and sector.  This system aims to provide a convenient and secure online tool that provides for worldwide access to investment information.  The system also stores customer information and provides a low cost means therefore replacing expensive and restrictive conferences and advertisements, thereby expanding our clientele.  Through these capabilities III Net hopes to add values to customers by bringing investment information to interested investors.

Group 4  developed the Asset Inventory Management System (AIM) for a geographically dispersed company.  AIM will replace the current system that stores over 50,000 computer asset data stored in two distributed systems and will track computer hardware, software and fixed computer assets of an enterprise.  AIM will help an enterprise reduce total cost of ownership by minimizing the need to visit individual desktops for routine management; help control software costs by metering usage allowing an enterprise to only buy what is needed; improve service levels by providing better information about hardware, software and configurations; and improve end-user productivity by providing consistent system configurations and minimizing desktop downtime.

Group 5 Group 5 developed the Metro Homes Patient Management System (MHPMS) for Metro Homes Inc. a group home healthcare facility for the mentally and physically challenged that is based in Washington DC.  The organization currently owns eight group homes in Washington DC and is working towards expanding its services to Maryland and Virginia.  MHPMS streamlines the documentation process for clients, from the referral stage, evaluation and admission, to the development of a client care plan.  The MHPMS architecture is scalable, reliable and is composed of a local area network with eight remote sites.   MHPMS complies with the stipulations set forth by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), as well as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) of 1996.
