Group 1 Group 1 developed an online system to replace the existing New York Stock Exchange trading floor in an effort to reduce manual processes and prepare the system for increased trading capacity and around-the-clock operation. The system uses Enterprise Java Beans and Java Server Pages with an Oracle 8i Enterprise database. The iPlanet Enterprise Web Server runs on Sun Enterprise 450 servers and the Oracle DBMS runs on Sun Enterprise 10000 servers. The system is geographically redundant at five locations, which are interconnected via an OC-192 ATM fiber network.
Group 2

Group 2 developed a web-based project tracking system for iCON Corp., which would allow consultants in the field to review and manage project schedules and for clients to view their project status information.

The system uses Active Server Pages (ASP) to interact with an Oracle 8.0 database which runs on a Sun Enterprise Sever 2300 with IIS (Internet Information Server) 4.0 as its web server and are hosted on a Dell PowerEdge Server.

Group 3

Group 3 developed a web-based Intranet for the Metropolitan Police of Washington, DC that would allow dispatchers to quickly and accurately dispatch officers to the scene of an incident and would allow Lieutenants to track the whereabouts of all squad cars.

The system uses Active Server Pages to interact with an Oracle 8.0 database, a GIS database, call logger software, and GPS positions of squad cars, all of which runs on a Sun server and two Windows NT servers. One of the NT servers has Internet Information Server 4.0 and will serve as the web server for the Intranet. The wireless components of the network communicate using the CDPD protocol.

This system is for one Patrol Service Area (PSA) but can be scaled to include the entire city. This system could also be used at any other police station.

Group 4 Group 4 Group 4 developed a start-up web-based ordering system called GetWiredNow.com, which enables Residential Customers to order bundled Telecommunications and Cable services online. Customers will view consolidated billing and order status information through this site. Service-Providers benefit from automated order processing and new market presence.

The system uses Active Server Pages to interact with a SQLServer 7.0 database which runs on a Windows NT server with Internet Information Server 4.0 as its web server. The system has redundant T-3 connections to the Web Server and DB server farms and is protected by CheckPoint Firewalls. Big IP Load Balancers distribute the workload.
