Lawd Today!

Wright wrote this novel during the thirties and originally entitled it "Cesspool." It was repeatedly turned down by publishing houses under both the original name and the title "Lawd Today!." The text, under the title Lawd Today, finally appeared in 1963, a few years after Wright's death.

The novel tells the story of a single day in the life of Jake Johnson, a mail man. Jake is self-centered, brutal, and foolish. More later.
